Well it has been quite some time since I've posted anything! But with COVID-19 in full effect, I have definitely been using my oils more to help with anxiety, and you guessed it...sleep! A great routine that has been working for me has been diffusing the following blend: Lavender, Frankincense, Bergamot, Cedarwood, and Vetiver. An amazing blend that has really helped with sleep! I have also been putting a drop of Lavender, Vetiver, and Cedarwood on my feet every night. The routine along with trying to read and stay off my phone (Not always successful) has been very helpful! However, I was getting sick of putting each oil on my feet every night...especially since Vetiver is very sappy and SLOW! With that being said, I decided I would make a Sleep Foot Salve. So that's what I did and it came out GREAT! Here is the recipe if you're are interested!
Ingredients:
½ ounce beeswax
1 ounce shea butter
1 ounce cocoa butter
2 ounces grapeseed oil
¾ ounce vegetable glycerin
¼ tsp vitamin E oil
4 droppers full of Jojoba Oil (This is a must in my opinion! Helps your skin absorb the salve)
15-30 drops of Cedarwood Essential Oil
15-30 drops of Vetiver Essential Oil
15-30 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
1 tsp arrowroot starch (Can use corn starch if don’t have arrow root)
****Note: I like mine a little stronger so I did 30 drops of each EO…but you may want to start with 15 drops of each. 30 may be a bit too strong for some people.
Directions:
In a pyrex measuring cup or wide mouth mason jar, measure beeswax, cocoa butter, shea butter, and grapeseed oil
Add the pyrex measure cup to a shallow puto f water and bring the water to a simmer. Heat the oils until everything is fully melted (beeswax will melt last)
Allow the oil mixture to cool just until it begins to solidify. Then stir in the glycerin, vitamin E oil, Jojoba, and Essential Oils
Allow the salve to cool completely either at room temperature or in the fridge
Use a hand mixer to whip the cream
Once you have mixed a bit, add in the arrow root powder and whip until light and fluffy!
Once the cream is whipped, transfer to small mason jars or tins. I found that the entire amount fit perfectly into a 4.25 oz jar
Okay! That's it! Let me know what ya think!
