Well, I have been slacking on my weekly tip-off posts! Sometimes my real job seems to get in the way! :) However, I am still here and available for any questions friends and family or anyone else following this blog may have!!! Now, today's post is all about Frankincense. Frankincense is truly an amazing oil. It is an immune system booster, a stress reliever, can help with cellular regeneration (which is why you'll find it in so many skin care products), is a mood booster, helps with sleep....the list goes on! It's one of my favorite oils. With that being said....Frankincense is one of the more expensive oils. That is because it's harder to source, harder to distill, and very time consuming to produce. (You can read a bit more about the harvesting process HERE). With that being said, you'll want to use Frankincense sparingly and don't waste a drop!!!! Now, without further ado, here is a list of 20 practical ways you can use Frankincense in your home! (As usual, this list is in no particular order).

1. Goodbye Scars! After a wound has healed, frankincense can help fade scars. Apply a very small amount directly to scars. You can also add a drop to a carrier oil to make the drop go further.

2. Rejuvenate your Skin: Add a drop to your moisturizer to reduce the appearance of blemishes and to rejuvenate your skin.

3. Nite Nite! For restful sleep, I keep a pillow spray next to my bed. I mix Frankincense and Lavender with water and keep in a small spray bottle. I simply spray my pillow each night. You can also diffuse Frankincense in your bedroom if you have trouble sleeping or just want to relax before bed. You will sleep like a baby!

4. Homemade Toner: Make a simple toner using 1-2 drops of Frankincense with 1.5 oz water. Apply to skin with a cotton ball to refresh skin and tighten pores.

5. Maintain Healthy Looking Fingernails: Apply Frankincense to your cuticles and nail beds to maintain healthy looking fingernails.

6. Improve Mood and Increase Focus: Apply a drop of Frankincense to your thumb and place on the roof of your mouth to help improve your mood and increase focus. You can also apply topically by massaging onto wrists and arms or by applying to the bottom of your feet. Or apply 1-2 drops of Frankincense to your hands and inhale or just diffuse throughout the day to help improve focus and create a feeling of overall satisfaction

7. Wrinkle Reducer: Dab Frankincense diluted in Fractionated Coconut Oil on fine lines and wrinkles to help reduce their appearance. You can also add a drop to your daily moisturizer to help with this or mix a 50/50 blend of Frankincense and Sweet Almond Oil in a glass roller bottle. Diluting is always recommended to make your Frankincense go further!

8. Keep Your Mouth Fresh and Clean! Make your own mouth rinse with Frankincense to help keep your gums and teeth clean and healthy! Frankincense can help keep bad breath, canker sores, toothaches and cavities away! Simply add a drop to some water and swish around. Or you can make up your own toothpaste using a few drops of frankincense oil, coconut oil and a little baking soda. Experiment and see what works for you!

9. Support your Cells: Add 1 drop of Frankincense to a veggie capsule and take daily to help support healthy cellular function, healthy liver function, and healthy joint function. You can also add a drop under your tongue to support healthy function in bodily systems.

10. Eliminate Itch: If you have an itch, place a few drops of Frankincense diluted with a carrier oil on your skin.

11. Goodbye Stress: Just a drop or two of Frankincense diluted with fractionated coconut oil on your temples can help to relieve your stress. You can also try mixing a few drops with a carrier oil and rubbing it on the back of your neck. Or, rub a little oil between the palms of your hand and take a deep breath to promote calmness. Another trick is to add a few drops to your washcloth/poof while in the shower. Once the hot water hits the oil you will instantly feel yourself relax!!!! Want a nice diffuser blend? Diffuse 5 drops each of Bergamot, Frankincense, and Lavender to help reduce stress.

12. Natural Cleanser: Frankincense is antiseptic, meaning it can help eliminate bacteria and viruses from your home! Add Frankincense to a spray bottle and use as a natural cleanser to help protect against environmental threats! You can also diffuse it to help reduce indoor pollution, deodorize, and disinfect any room in your house!

13. Refreshing Room Spray: Combine 5 drops Frankincense, 5 drops Grapefruit, and 10 drops Douglas Fir for a sweet and refreshing room spray! To make the spray go a little further, add 3/4 cup distilled water along with 2 Tbsp of vodka, rubbing alcohol, or real vanilla extract. Combine all in an 8oz glass spray bottle, shake well, and spray as needed! Of course, you can always adjust quantities to your liking...this is not an exact science, so do what works for you!

14. Woodsy Diffuser Blend: Combine 8 drops Frankincense, 5 drops White Fir, and 3 drops Cedarwood for a woodsy smelling diffuser blend.

15. Energizing Diffuser Blend: For wake up boost, combine 5 drops each of Frankincense, Wild Orange, and Cinnamon in your diffuser. A great way to start the day to increase focus for the day!

16. DIY After Shave: Make your own after shave roller bottle. Combine 10 drops each of Lavender, Melaleuca, and Frankincense to a 10 ml roller bottle. Top off the roller bottle with Fractionated Coconut Oil and shake well before using. Use after shaving (Anywhere!!!) to maintain clear skin. Really helps with those nasty red bumps!

17. User After a Day of Outdoor Activity: After a day of outdoor activity, massage Frankincense into hands and feet for a warming and soothing effect. You can also use Frankincense to help with Restless Leg Syndrome...Simply dilute a couple drops of Frankincense oil with a carrier oil and apply to the bottom of your feet before going to sleep.

18. Reduce Swelling from Insect Bites: Frankincense can help reduce swelling from insect bites. Dilute with a carrier oil and apply to the bite several times a day until the discomfort is gone.

19. Cleanse and Nourish your Skin! Help cleanse and nourish your skin with Frankincense. doTerra has a great DIY Clay Mask Recipe HERE! Check it out if you enjoy making your own beauty products at home.

20. Natural Cold or Flu Relief: Frankincense can help eliminate phlegm and can also help reduce congestion. Put 6 drops into a bowl with some very hot water and lean over the bowl with a towel over your head to keep the steam contained. Breathe deeply for about five minutes to reduce congestion. You can also add a few drops to a cloth and inhale.
