15 Uses for Oregano
****When used topically, dilute dilute dilute with a carrier oil!!!!!
Oregano Oil is one of those oils I had no idea what to do with when I first started using essential oils. It wasn't my "go to." However, once I realized all of the benefits of this powerful oil, I have started to try to incorporate it into my routine more and more. I mean...I had it sitting there at home, why not make use of it?! Oregano is one of the most potent and powerful essential oils and has been used for centuries in traditional health practices for its cleansing and immune-boosting properties. It is considered to be considered to be antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-allergenic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-parasitic. However, many people don't think about how to use it practically! This is a "short" list (listed in no particular order) of how you can use Oregano Essential Oil. Whether it's to make your own hand sanitizer or you just want an immune boost, if you have Oregano Essential Oil at home...make sure to use it! It's a powerful tool and I guarantee you can replace a lot of items in your home (i.e. hand sanitizer) by simply using what you already have!
An Immune System Boost. Take several drops in a Veggie Capsule for periodic immune support.
Keep Calm And Oregano On. Concerned about the sanitary conditions of a public place you or the kids have just walked on with bare feet? Your feet absorb more than you think. Follow up by applying one drop of Oregano and Thyme, diluted with 6-7 drops of Fractionated Coconut Oil. Happy feet!!!
Savor The Flavor. Put a drop of Oregano essential oil in your spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, on a roast, or any other entrée for delicious flavor. Put a drop of Oregano and a drop of Basil in your veggie dip! Or, mix them both with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for a savory bread dip! Because Oregano is so strong, you may want to put the drop first on a spoon and then use a toothpick to slowly add oil to the recipe to your liking!
The Best Defense Is A Good Offense. To help keep your home clean, put 10 drops in a 16-ounce spray bottle with water for a surface cleaner or spray it in corners of the shower, sink, and other damp and darkened areas.
Bring On Sandal Season! Apply one drop of Oregano to 6 drops of Fractionated Coconut Oil to soften cuticles and rough spots that many be encroaching on your toenail real estate. Oregano keeps impurities out!
Digestive Dilemmas Abated. Oregano is a key ingredient in dōTERRA’s GX Assist, for good reason! It helps create a peaceful environment that is unfriendly to ‘the unmentionables’ that tax our digestive systems.
Help with Congestion: Dilute in your favorite carrier oil or lotion and apply to the chest area. For nasal congestion, try adding one or two drops of oregano essential oil on a clean handkerchief and inhale the vapor.
Warming Wonder. Dilute just 1 drop in several drops of fractionated coconut oil and massage quickly into hands and feet to help warm the body.
Sickness and Flu Diffuse Oregano essential oil in your favorite diffuser to help quickly get rid of the flu or any other sickness.
Go Away Infections! For anyone who has had a UTI or bladder infection it’s extremely uncomfortable!!!! Cranberry juice is great, but Oregano in your system can work to clear this out, clean it up, and help you feel better. Researchers believe that oregano essential oil can be used as an alternative antibacterial remedy for enhancing the healing process in bacterial infections and it’s an effective means for the prevention of antibiotic-resistant strain development. In fact, oregano oil benefits may be superior to prescription antibiotics because oregano doesn’t cause antibiotic resistance and it has no harmful side effects. Target The Source of Unsightly Skin Woes. Anyone’s skin can have imperfections, bumps or feel irritated. The same properties that make oregano great for internal use are also effective as a topical ointment. Use sparingly! Oregano is potent. Dilute 1 drop to 4 drops of Fractionated Coconut Oil.

Warts and skin tags Apply one drop morning and night using a Q-tip applied to the affected area. Keep at it and within a few weeks, the warts will shrink appreciably and the skin tags will fall off. Remember that Oregano is potent, so you may want to dilute with a carrier oil, depending on the sensitivity of your skin. Another way to do this is to add a mixture of half oregano oil and half fractionated coconut oil to a roller bottle and dab twice daily until they are gone. Dr. Axe also has a recipe for DIY Wart Remover if you want to play with recipes.
DIY Hand Sanitizer: Combine 10 drops of oregano oil with two tablespoons of coconut oil. Rub it into your hands as a natural hand sanitizer.
Mouthwash Add a few drops to a glass of water to sweeten your breath and kill the bacteria that can lead to gum disease and gingivitis.
Remember that Less Is More!!!!
In nearly all applications, more Oregano is not the answer. Oregano is one of the most potent essential oils—one drop is usually all you need. When used improperly, be sure to have Fractionated Coconut Oil on hand to dilute its potency if needed.
